Open House
So, I work at this school right? www.hltw13.at I go there four days a week and you would think I'd know something about it. Like when they are having an open house. That's actually not true! There was an open house at my school on Friday and I didn't have a clue about it.
Friday also happened to be the day that Jung came to school with me. He was in town and had nothing better to do, so he decided to come along. He's been to several other schools with other assistant friends--I guess this is his way to gather intelligence on ... not sure what. Anyway, so after my one lesson, during which Jung got a tour of the school by one of my students, we wandered around the school with Jung showing me the rooms that I should have known about, not the other way around. There were information booths on all floors and in some of the classrooms, so I stopped at various booths, especially if I recongnized a student of mine. This was definitely the first time I had talked to any of my students outside a classroom setting and they were surprisingly eager to speak English with me in the hallway, no matter how reluctant they are in the classroom. Much to our delight, there was lots of food to be had at the open house, being that my school teaches students cooking, bartending and serving. We ate fruit filled flambeed crepes, little finger sandwiches, handmade rolls and were served some pretty random but tasty cocktails in one of the several bars in my school (who knew?). So there I was, at 11:30am, sitting on a bar stool talking to some students while others mixed and served my drink. I think that I am just a little bit cooler in their eyes now that we've shared a cocktail.

i certainly wouldn't mind sharing a cocktail with vicky schmidt, kevin hesner or a few other s-mont staff. how fun!
Personally I'd love to have a cocktail with Don. I will let you know when that happens. I have found out his drink of choice so perhaps someday I will get him to have one with me!
