Christmas vacation

Tonight wraps up my trip to Iowa for this year. *Awwwww says Summer* I'm headed back to New York tomorrow morning after a week of entertaining my nephew, who's lucky to still be alive. No, really, he wasn't that bad. I have played with Lincoln Logs, lightsabers (totally cool toy!), guns, sticks that we pretend are guns, and army men. Evan and I spent a lot of time "huntin' coyotes" both in the house and outside.

Summer and I threw the annual high school reunion brunch at her place again this year. Check out these hot hostesses, neither of whom have this so-called "double cheek" that Summer keeps going on about. We just sort of have dimples...very sexy.
Attendance was pretty low this year at the brunch, but we were there with our mimosas, which is pretty much all we need for a party. :)

New Year's Eve is going to be spent in Philadelphia with Carolyn. Hopefully I'll remember to take my camera along so I can put up some pictures. I sort of forgot to bring mine home for Christmas...oops! Maybe someone else took some pictures of me with the nephews that I can put up later...

My Name

Is my name that hard to spell correctly? I just returned to my desk from the bathroom to find a note from my boss:

Carrie,

Can the OCR team meet at 3 PM today?

-S

Umm...is this for me? Because that is not my name the last time I checked. I've been working here for nearly six months now, right? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Christmas Cheer...

Was not found at the Business School holiday party! A man in the food line in front of my colleagues and I was greatly offended when we cheered for our co-worker, who was recongnized for 25 years of service to the university, and picked a fight. A grown man! He works directly for the Dean of the school and apparently has some clout, which makes the whole thing a lot more complicated, as my colleague lost her temper and may have pulled out the f-word. *sigh* He spent the rest of the party trying to figure out her name and obviously succeeded, because she received an email from him saying she should call regarding their "conversation" at the party.

Why are we (humans) like this? Why is it so hard for us to let things go, to remain calm, to not jump all over each other? I am definitely guilty of my fair share of rudeness and throat jumping, but I never feel better for having done them.

Next year we'll stay in and order pizza instead.
