Asbestos at Columbia
Starting today, the second floor of Uris Hall is officially under construction. The hallways of this building have been an eyesore for the longest time, with the high school-esque blue lockers and mint green tile walls. The hallway is getting a major overhaul this year and will end up white, sterile and locker-less by the end of the summer.
To complete this project, they have to remove asbestos. They've built a wall to contain the hazardous material, but most of us in the office are still a little uneasy about the whole thing, especially those of us without windows. If I die of a mysterious lung ailment, you'll know why.
